Thank you for checking out the Flying Monkey IRC Server. IRC, or Internet Relay Chat, is among the Internet’s oldest and most established chat platforms. We want to build up a community of people who are into old‑school text chat, retro internet culture, or just want a simple place to talk without all the modern noise.

Part of our plan is to build up our #RetroComputing channel. This is a channel for users of any brand of vintage computer equipment to come and discuss any aspect of the hobby. Whether you’re restoring old machines, collecting classic systems, or just curious about the hobby, you’re welcome to join in the conversation. Discuss Commodore, Atari, Amiga, DOS, Macintosh, Acorn and more.

We support your retro rig connecting to our network, plaintext port and all. Modern machines can use TLS for encrypted connections, which makes things like identifying with NickServ safer – but if you’ve got a genuine vintage machine online with an old-school IRC client, our plaintext port has you covered.

We’d love to welcome you in. Every new voice helps shape the community, and yours might be the spark for someone’s next project or memory. And if you have an idea for a topic or project, you can always create your own IRC channel and build a little corner of the server around it. This is a place we hope you can call home.
